The RB26DETT is a 2.6 Liter, DOHC, 24 valve, in-line 6. It uses a six-throttle inlet manifold, has a bore of 86mm and stroke of 73.77mm which results in a total displacement of 2569cc. A compression ratio of 8.5:1, twin T28 Garrett turbochargers and a large front-mount intercooler help the RB26DETT produce a rated 280hp at 6800rpm and 260ft-lb of torque at 4400rpm. In most peoples' opinion, the R32 was underrated by the factory.

The R32 GT-R uses a 5-speed manual gearbox which is connected to Nissans ATTESA-ETS (Advanced Total Traction Engineering System for All - Electronic Torque Split) all-wheel drive system. ATTESSA monitors the car's movements a 100 times per second, including wheel rotation, and lateral as well as longitudinal acceleration. When wheel slip is detected, the system electronically distributes torque from this spinning wheel to one without slip. Torque distribution can be adjusted to settings between 0:100 and 50:50. The rear of the R32 utilizes an active Limited Slip Differential.

The GT-R uses a multilink suspension, front and rear, and steering is further improved by utilizing an all-wheel-steering system (Super HICAS). Super HICAS allows the GT-R's rear wheels to steer a maximum of one degree, based upon the car's current movement and the angle of the steering wheel input via the driver. This results in a more nimble feel and is handled via electric actuators and computer controls.

The V-Spec (Victory Specification) uses a stiffer suspension and a revised all-wheel-drive system. Performance is further improved by using larger 225/50/17 tires and 324mm back/300mm front Brembo ventilated disc brakes. Exterior dimensions are: 4545mm length, 1755mm width, 1355mm height. From a visual perspective, the GT-R is similar in appearance to the other R-32 models with some exceptions. The GT-R includes front-bumper air inlets, larger intercooler, a taller rear wing, aluminum front wheel arches and bonnet, and GT-R (and V-Spec if applicable) emblems.

The R32 GT-R notched up a whopping 29 straight victories out of 29 races. The GT-R proceeded win the JTC Group A series championship 4 years in a row, thus earning the name "Godzilla".

The R33 GT-R, introduced in 1994, started with the good aspects of the R32 and improved them. The RB26DETT from the R32 was utilized with an improved intercooler, higher peak boost, and adjusted computer parameters that allowed for additional torque (271ft-lb @ 4000rpm). The gearbox, ATTESA-ETS (Advanced Total Traction Engineering System for All - Electronic Torque Split) all-wheel drive system, and rear Limited Slip Differential remained the same. Power was still listed as 280hp, although 302hp is more accurate. The V-Spec version receives revised ATTESSA settings, and a stiffer suspension with a 10mm drop in comparison to the base GT-R.
R33 is wider (1780mm), longer (4675mm), and higher (1360mm) than the previous R32. A new multi-piece rear wing is being utilized that allows four different settings for downforce (0°, 6°, 12° and 18°). Coefficient of Drag is rated at 0.35 - 0.39 dependant on the angle of the wing. Wheel housings are widened to support 245/45/17 tires and, as with the R32, the hood and fender flares are made of aluminum. The R33 also received new side sills.

The interior has the addition of oil-temperature and torque distribution gauges. Airbags are now standard as of 1995. With the additional length, the R33 GT-R is more roomy than the R32 version and offers more trunk space.

R33 GT-R and there were only 99 produced. The 400R had the RBX-GT2 engine which was a further tuned version of the RB26DETT producing 400hp at 6800rpm (10,000rpm limit). A larger bore and stroke, utilizing special pistons/connecting rods, a new crankshaft and a strengthened engine block increased displacement to 2771cc. Intake upgrades also included an upgraded intercooler. Torque was increased to 346ft-lb @ 4400rpm.

The R34 GT-R was introduced in January 1999 and bettered its predecessor’s performance in almost every department. Basically, the new car is built upon the improved technology of its prede-cessors. Since Nissan’s market research had found out that most people preferred the smaller R32’s nimbleness to the larger R33’s handling, the R34’s length was reduced by 7.5cm to decrease its dimensions and bring its handling more towards that of the R32. In correspondence with other technical improvements, the new R34 has thus become the best Skyline GT-R ever.

Powered by advanced lithium-ion batteries, the EV prototype is part of Nissan’s substantial research and development program on zero emission vehicles. This latest generation vehicle features a front-wheel drive layout and uses a newly developed 80kW motor and inverter. The advanced laminated compact lithium-ion batteries are installed under the floor, without sacrificing either cabin or cargo space.

The production vehicle to be introduced in 2010 will have a unique bodystyle and is not based on any existing Nissan model.Nissan has long experience in electric-powered vehicle development, commencing from the first EV "Tama Electric Vehicle" back in 1947. The company introduced the world’s first application of lithium-ion batteries to the Prarie Joy EV in 1996, followed by the ultra-compact electric vehicle, Hypermini, released in 2000. Nissan also introduced its first original hybrid vehicle Tino Hybrid back in 1999 in Japan. In 2006, the Altima Hybrid was introduced in North America using licensed technology.
